SHANE DRAKE
LOS ANGELES, CA
Shane Drake is a filmmaker hailing from Redding, California. Though his initial career path was in the field of science, a love for the arts would eventually lead him to his first significant mentor — a music video director — who channeled his foray into the world of music cinema. Drake’s visual style has since shined in the music videos of the industry’s brightest stars (Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, Timbaland, Paramore, Kelly Clarkson, Motley Crue, Fall Out Boy, Flo Rida, Will I Am, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Daughtry, to name a few), attracting the viewership of billions across the globe.
Through his history with multi-platinum artists, Drake can be credited for helping shape the original visual styles for many popular bands. One of the more noteworthy instances is Panic! At The Disco’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” the band’s first single to have a music video. The video — which won Video of the Year at the 2006 MTV VMAs, and was voted MTV’s Best VMA Winning Video of All Time in 2011 — was Drake’s first award-winning video, and only the beginning in a series of highly acclaimed works.
In addition to music videos, Drake has also seen significant attention for his commercial and branded work. He joined American Idol and Ford to launch the team’s “on air” music video spots into a new level of creativity and viewership— all of which premiered on American Idol.During the four seasons that Drake participated, Ford boasted some of its largest numbers ever associated with the promos, leading the associated agency involved to bring Drake on to direct a Lincoln commercial geared towards the 2010 Grammy Awards.
